FOSTERERS URGENTLY NEEDED
Currently we have 4 fosterers but we still need more.
We have enough money put aside to buy to 2 more pens,
do you have space in your garden?
Please help us to help them
Contact Rowena or
Kathy if you can help.
Volunteers Needed
Help urgently needed at Fundraising events
We need a pool of volunteers and a Team Leader
to organise help for our fundraising events
The idea is for the Team Leader to set up a rota so that
we should always have enough people for our events and
volunteers will only have to do as much as they are able
Please ring Kathy on 01726 70631 if you can help
Fosterer Profile - Fred and Jo Ashen
Fred & Jo are our new fosterers, a married couple, Fred is a depot supervisor for a Traffic Management Company and Jo works for Cornwall Council in Administration. We are very lucky to have them and look forward to a long, mutually beneficial association.
Their story
After 8 years of experience in the pet trade we sold our pet supplies shop last year and Jo has just started up a pet supplies business called PET-ALLS delivering to the doorstep. She can be contacted on her mobile 07835 133521 or on her email : jo.ashen@yahoo.co.uk
We have three cats of our own, in fact the reason we moved to our new home was just for them – away from any roads and lots of moorland to play in! Ringo (7 years old) our tabby boy who is the most gentle cat we have ever known, loving and sings to us when he wants a cuddle. He teases our two girls who never want to play with him. Then there’s Lily our little pudgy black cat who was our first kitten (now 9 years old) she’s always been a bit mardy and rarely wants to be handled until around 3am most mornings! She has the shiniest black coat and never strays far from the fireplace but will happily sit on our laps normally when we want to eat our tea heyho! Finally there is Mouse (4 years old) she is a small tortoiseshell who started out the first year of her life indoors as we couldn’t bear losing any more cats on the road outside our house. This time thankfully allowed us to get to know the most lovable, bright, mischievous cat we have had the pleasure of living with. She plays fetch with us as long as we throw used ear plugs (!) and sings constantly. She is happiest when she is falling asleep lying on Jo’s chest staring into each others eyes! She will defend her territory with the courage of a lion and even though she is tiny she occupies a huge place in our hearts.
Also Two dogs who are definitely bossed around by Mouse! Barney is a loyal collie cross (a rescue dog) who is very bright and loyal and Roly who is a big rottie/flat coat cross who we rescued 18 months ago. He is clumsey, smelly and a loving big lad who is gentle and all he wants to do in life is please.
It was one of Jo’s work colleague,s who knew of a lady who couldn’t afford to keep her constantly expanding ‘pride’! And so we got our first foster cats on Sunday 11th October 2009 (2 kittens and 3 young cats each with babies on the way – in at the deep end!) We have built our own double pen (financed by White River Cat Rescue) so we have lots of room for the cats in our care. Fred and Jo currently have Ziggy and 3 x 6 month old black kittens
